Help Frankie! - Part 2
Frankie together with his uncle were brought to the orthopedic department at the Korle – Bu hospital in Accra-Ghana for the surgeons to examine the cause of Frankie`s bone friction and to decide if a surgery can be carried out to straighten his bones.
The examination includes a meeting with the orthopedic surgeons, a laboratory check up, bone x-tray`s and medical checkup.
Many of the young doctors stood astonished and were amazed to witness such an intensive deformity for the first time in their carrier. The results from the lab test and x-tray images confirms that this deformity was caused by deficiency of vitamin D, and he is now suffering from a disease known as “rickets“.
The orthopedic surgeons are assured that the surgery can be carried out and Frankie can walk normal again after the surgery. Frankie will be on a nutritional diet for the upcoming months, especially to boost up vitamin D in his system.
Tomorrow, he will be going through the last pediatric check up and then he will be ready to go back to his village together with his uncle.
